Accessibility is about ensuring that we remove any barriers that prevent visitors from accessing web content. As an Ontario municipality we are bound by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) which mandates that we meet certain guidelines. But beyond the law, being accessible just makes business sense – it means that more visitors can access our information and services at a lower cost to us.
This playbook describes steps you can take to make sure you are publishing content and interfaces that do not unintentionally create barriers to visitors with a physical, mental, or learning condition that requires assistive technology or altered method of browsing the web.
